Kahwa Coffee has been slowly roasting the national competition, aka Starbucks, over the last several years here in Downtown St. Pete. This is mainly due to owner Raphael Perrier’s smart expansion plans, coupled with his delicious coffee, and warm, friendly and professional customer service approach. From their website, “Our goal is to bring our customers a consistent product that will delight any palate from amateur to connoisseur. Kahwa Coffee Roasting Company opened its doors in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida in 2006. All our roasting is done at our production site here in Tampa Bay.”

From their website “Our first café opened in downtown St. Pete to showcase our enthusiasm for great coffee and high quality coffee drinks. Our baristas go through intensive training to make sure each coffee we serve will be the best coffee you’ve ever had!”
Well they certainly are doing ALL the right things, as many of us locals and visitors have changed our habit of choosing the national brands in favor of our own LOCAL coffee experience. So for drinking at your home, enjoying the cool cafe experience, or a hot cup of tasty Java during a wedding or event – local venues like NOVA 535 Unique Event Space have proudly served Kahwa coffee to their guests for years now – Kahwa is THE local DTSP source for delicious coffee.
Raphael and his team have created a virtual coffee shop where you can purchase beans, cool mugs, tumblers and tins, single serve cups and even gift cards for those of us who need a great gift yet might be too lazy or busy (or both!) to do some “proper” shopping. Plus who doesn’t enjoy a gift full of deliciousness?!
More from their website “Coffee was first discovered in the wild in Ethiopia in the Kaffa region. The Turkish name given to coffee, “kahve” evolved to “qahwa” in Arabic. The spelling differs according to the different countries but Kahwa is the original name for coffee throughout Africa. It evolved to café (in French) or caffe (in Italian) and remains common slang for coffee in France. “Je veux un kahwa, s’il vous plait!” (I WANT A KAHWA PLEASE!)
